RE: need help! 2012 Itasca Reyo not charging house batteries

When you are running the engine there must be 12 volts on the small wire. Should come from accessory circuit some where.

RE: Solar inverter -- shore power question

When hooked up to shore power on most RV's the power goes to a transfer switch which powers the converter that makes 12 volts to charge the battery. 110 volt ac is sent to everything that uses 110 volt ac. When not hooked up to 110 volt ac the solar panels are used to charge the battery. The battery is then connected to the inverter and produces 110 volt ac to supply 110 volt ac power to the ac outlets and fridge.

RE: SC to Maine, our first long trip

Sounds like fun. Just a word of advice. The end of April many campgrounds may not be open up north yet. We have had two feet of snow in late April before. Start checking opening dates at campgrounds and plan accordingly.

RE: are my cords too long

30 Amp cord does not carry second 110 volt line. It only has 1 hot,1 neutral and ground. 50 amp cord has two hots, 1 neutral and ground.

RE: Add washer and dryer

Travel trailer or fifth wheel? Does it have a space for one? If it does is the space for a combo stack-able? Is trailer 50 amp service? Is it pre-wired for one? At that age most likely has only 110 volt wiring. Most rv combo units are 110 volt.

RE: Full-Time Alaska TT Living

It is nice to dream. But no running water or flushing toilet at 40 below. You can insulate the trailer by using straw bales all around and on top. You have to cover all with plastic also. You need a frame work on top to carry the weight of straw and the snow load. You need fresh air inlet and real heater. Lots to consider.

RE: AC problem

Sounds like the motor is froze up. Try taking cover off and if you can oil the bearings of fan. WD40 might work for a few weeks.

RE: Warm fridge / cold freezer (Norcold)

remove if you can but it sounds like everything is working. Park if you can so the sun doesn't shine on the side where the fridge is.

RE: Travel Trailer electrical

Learning is hard sometimes. Your 115 volt outlets will only work when trailer is plugged into external power. The rest of the trailer runs on 12 volt or gas. The fridge may or may not. Older trailers did not come with inverters to make 115 volts when not plugged into external power. It sounds like it is working the way it should. What are you trying to do differently?

RE: Choosing a new house battery

Back again. You need a new converter! Not a new battery. Compressor fridge does not run all the time. Max draw is 15amps. Your converter should put out 50-60 amps as needed.

RE: Choosing a new house battery

Is it a standard RV fridge? Is it a two way 115v and gas? They make three way also. A standard RV fridge runs on 115v when parked and switches to gas when not hooked up to 115v. Need more information.

RE: Choosing a new house battery

Is it a compressor type 12 volt? If not you must stay plugged in all the time. No battery will last long. Your converter is needed at all times as you know fridge has a very high current draw.

RE: Best route through/around Burlington, VT

You can't even drive a car through downtown. Downtown is a walking mall. Why would you want to drive a rv through? RT 7 has lots of stop signs but do able.
